A SWOT analysis of community-based forest management policy as a basis for REDD+ in Tanzania

In developing countries, the failure of policing model forest management whereby central government protected reserves by preventing local communities from using them led to emergence Participatory Forest Management (PFM) policy. Tanzania, PFM takes two main forms; Joint (JFM) in which or district council owns and people are involved conservation. Community Based (CBFM) policy as second form community is given right own use general land. The paper discusses strengths, weaknesses, opportunities threats -based Tanzania.
